FAJUB – Federation of Youth Associations of Braga is an organization that politically represents the youth associations of the District of Braga both locally, nationally and internationally. FAJUB’s main position is to represent the youth associations of Braga in the meetings of the Municipal and National Councils and to defend the interests between the public and political powers of the youth associations movement. This position allows active participation in the definition of youth policies, in general, and the youth associative movement.
The FAJUB’s activity plan includes the development of meetings, meetings and training for member associations, encouraging the sharing of good work practices, the use of non-formal education for the development of young people’s skills and the construction of an active, tolerant and supportive community.
FAJUB intends to highlight the importance of the role of associations in the non-formal education of young people from Braga to develop the youth movement in the region. Through the training and development of youth associations, a future with more options is sought, a demonstration and promotion of youth entrepreneurship, individual and associative with communities and populations.
In addition, FAJUB members have already participated in some European exchange and training projects that contributed to the Federation’s international experience. The district of Braga is characterized by being the youngest district in Portugal and that currently goes through a moment of constant creation of measures to support entrepreneurship and support to the youth generation. Braga is characterized by a very dynamic and active young age group, being the district with the most youth NGOs in the country and the district where the national Erasmus + agency is located.
FAJUB is a member of the National Register of Youth Associations (RNAJ) and is supported by the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth through annual and specific support programs, as well as through training and activity development applications, to complete training and opportunities for member associations of FAJUB thus allowing to obtain useful skills for the day to day and the future
of the young people involved.
FAJUB has, within its network of member associations, more than 200 associations that are part of the day-to-day activities of FAJUB in the most diverse areas. These associations are the local asset of the youth generation of the Braga district since the University of Minho Student Association, a university with more than 19,000 students enrolled in the last year and the Catholic University, with
more than 7000 students, as well as forum associations local, from sports clubs, musical, theater, social and youth associations, in the 14 cities that make up the district.
FAJUB’s mission is to be the link between all these member associations and to allow synergies and the promotion of opportunities for associations in the district as well as for the entire youth generation in the district of Braga, an estimated number in 2014 at around 180000 young.
It works in the following specific areas:
Education and Training: design and provision of tools and opportunities for a professional, social and cultural growth of teachers and educators, as well as youngsters and adults. Towards the innovation of the whole spectrum of European education.
Local Development and Project Management: assistance to public and private entities in developing vision and goals, providing advice and services during the entire life cycle of a project. For responsible and sustainable citizens, organisations and communities.
